So, my baby mama left a bunch of my kid’s stuff with a family friend while she was dealing with some issues. When I finally got to take care of my daughter, the caregiver gave me all those items. Now my baby mama wants everything back, even the stuff that’s already used up like diapers and formula. We have 50/50 custody, but she’s claiming that all the clothes were hers. IDK what to do here… am I legally required to give everything back?
That sounds really complicated. In South Carolina, if those items were given to you, it might be tough for her to claim them back without proof. But it’s so messy…
I think you should return the essentials for sure, like the clothes and diapers. But the used stuff? That’s a stretch. She can’t expect you to return things that are already gone.
Have you thought about talking to a lawyer? They could give you better advice on what you should return.
Sounds like your relationship is pretty tense. Just stay calm and try to keep things civil for your kid’s sake.
Yeah, I get that. Sometimes it’s better to just let things go for peace of mind. Good luck with everything!
