Any experience using Legal Shield?

I was wondering if anyone here has used LegalShield previously since I am considering signing up for some legal aid. How did you find the experience? Did they respond and were they helpful? I would be grateful for any feedback on their service quality and whether the price is justified.

LegalShield offers legal advice and representation for a monthly fee. User experiences vary, with some finding it helpful and others reporting limitations in service. It’s essential to review the specific plan details before signing up.

I’m a plan attorney with a similar program—- I love it. I had to go solo basically straight out of law school bc I graduated in 2009. I probably wouldn’t have been able to make it without them at least not to the same extent I am at now…There are definitely losers that suck, but for the most time it’s worth the few wills I write, or traffic tickets I handle.

As a baby lawyer it also allowed me to expand my client base quickly….those people refer me non plan clients. You can also upsell them from a free will to a trust that is billable.

Also , the program Im with does not advertise and it isn’t in the contract that I’m “on retainer” with my plan members. I have to give free consultations per one legal matter, I have to do some basic work at essentially no cost to the client, simple wills, simple traffic matters, but then more complex stuff is kicked over to 25% off my ordinary rate only if I agree to take the case. I can turn down cases I deem not worthy—-which I do all the time.

I get 3-4K per month, no questions asked. Now that I’m established, and the company may hate to hear me say it, but I consider it my ethical obligation if a plan member calls me and says they have a med mal case, obviously I can’t ethically take that case so I just tel them for that type of case you’re better off going with a specialist than the “plan attorney” even though you get a reduced contingency fee rate on that type of case. Now that I’m established and don’t “need” the program to survive, I’ve realized these companies struggle with finding attorneys to sign up, so it really strengthens by bargaining power when I decide to decline cases for whatever reason.

I think it is an EXCELLENT program both for the attorney and the member for simple wills, 1st offense criminal stuff, etc, anything more complicated they need to see a specialist

I’ve heard mixed reviews about LegalShield. Many users appreciate the convenience of having access to legal advice and services at a fixed monthly rate, which can be particularly useful for routine legal questions or documents. They generally offer services like consultation, document review, and sometimes even representation for certain legal issues. However, experiences can vary—some people find the service valuable and cost-effective, while others feel that the quality of the legal assistance or the breadth of services offered might not always meet their expectations. It’s worth considering the specific types of legal support you anticipate needing and comparing the cost of LegalShield to other options. Checking recent user reviews and talking to existing clients might help you gauge if the service will be a good fit for your needs.

Quality of Representation: The quality of legal representation is determined by the specific attorney assigned to your case. Some clients may have excellent experiences with LegalShield attorneys, whilst others may have negative ones. Consider reading reviews and testimonials to see how satisfied other clients with comparable legal requirements are.
