Anyone else have issues with banks after a family member's passing?

Since my dad passed away, I’ve been trying to handle his estate with the bank. A family member works there, and it’s been a nightmare. They denied me mortgage assumption and account info, and now I can’t get through to anyone. I’ve lost my job, home, and even my car. I can’t find an attorney willing to help either. IDK what to do… anyone have advice?

Wow, that sounds rough. You definitely need legal help. Have you tried looking for attorneys outside your area? Sometimes that works.

Yeah, I’ve heard Louisiana can be tricky. Maybe check out legal aid organizations? They might have some resources for you.

For real, this sounds like a lot to deal with. Have you thought about filing a complaint with the banking commission? They might be able to help.

I didn’t even know that was an option. How do I go about that?

@Davi
Just check their website for the complaint process. It’s usually pretty straightforward.

Document everything you can. It’ll help if you find an attorney later. They’ll need to see what’s been going on.

Networking might help too. Try reaching out to local bar associations for referrals. They usually have resources for situations like yours.
