Anyone know how to argue that my earnings have been reduced due to MS?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out how to argue that my earnings have gone down because of my MS. I’m still working, but I’m not at full capacity and lost my bonuses. Child support insists on using my old income, even though I can’t earn the same. Anyone know the best way to approach this? The county did lower it initially, but now they’re referring to old laws. Any advice would be great!

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. Honestly, it’s a tough situation. I’d suggest showing proof of your lost income and health situation in court. The income reduction should be enough for the child support to reconsider.

I’ve been through something similar. The best approach is to show that your income is directly impacted by your health and not by choice. If they’re still arguing over the bonuses, just emphasize that they were never voluntary losses.

Maybe focus on the bigger picture. If they’re insisting on past bonuses, show that the income drop is consistent and ongoing, not just a one-time loss.

Does the other side know about your MS yet? If not, maybe bringing it up might make a difference since it directly affects your earning ability.

You might also want to look at previous cases where people had similar issues with income drops and disabilities. It might help you present a stronger argument.
