Custodial parent changed visitation after an argument

I’m dealing with a situation where the custodial parent changed our agreed visitation schedule after an argument. We had agreed via a parenting app that I would have my child for 6 weeks during the summer, but now they’ve reverted back to the original order, which only allows me 5 days. I understand that the original order is what it is, but I feel visitation should be more fluid between parents without needing the courts to dictate every detail. Is this something I should bring up or am I stuck with this arrangement?

You should definitely file for a modification of visitation. It’s important to know why it was only 5 days in the summer originally.

Verbal agreements don’t hold up against court orders. You can petition for a modification, and part of your evidence can be that the custodial parent initially agreed to the change.

You know what they say about verbal agreements, right? They’re not worth the paper they’re written on.
