Guys, so the father of my baby and I currently have a temporary court order in place. During mediation, he agreed to give me a certain amount of child support until he went back to work. In Texas, it’s supposed to be 20%, but he couldn’t give that because he was claiming unemployment. Now that he’s working, I want to file a modification for child support. Would I need to go to mediation again or just child support court?

He makes great money, but he always lies about not working since he works in the oil field.

You have temporary orders, so where are you in the overall case? Is there an upcoming hearing? You don’t need to mediate support. It’s statutory. What is holding up the rest of the case?

You can just go file in court. Do you know where he works, or for whom he works? Hopefully, it’s all on the books.

I have an idea, but I would have to do some digging; he’s working offshore right now.

That’s what I was thinking because my attorney tells me we are going to have to go back to mediation, but I honestly don’t want to. It’s expensive.
