Mother doesn't answer me when I ask to see my child

As a father who is divorced, I used to see my child once a week for many years. When I ask to visit my child, the mother has not responded to me recently. I texted to see if I could see the child the day before and the day of the visit. The mother has never replied to me. I wonder whether that’s even allowed? Must I get legal counsel?

You might wish to include your location in your reply as family law varies more between states than most other types of law.

If visitation rights were not clearly stated before the divorce, you probably have ways to make sure you can see your child (again, depending on the state), but you’ll probably need legal assistance to make it happen.

Thank you. From what I could see, the settlement essentially states, whenever both parents deem it appropriate. The infant is visible to me.

The outcome is what you get when that’s what you have.

If you want to change that arrangement to 50%, every other weekend, supervised visitation, or anything else you desire or are likely to get (based on the lawyer and your specific circumstances), you will need legal representation.
