What to do about my kid's ADHD meds not being given?

Hey guys, daughter has ADHD and needs her meds regularly, but her dad isn’t giving them to her when she’s with him on the weekends. It’s super frustrating since I’m the custodial parent and he just doesn’t communicate about it. Any advice on what I can do?

I would go to court and petition for emergency sole custody due to medical neglect. He should have supervised visits until he follows the doctor’s orders.

That sounds like a solid plan! But what if he doesn’t even care about the visits?

You’ll need to file for medical enforcement first. Bring the doctor’s statement about how important the meds are. The judge can order him to give them or face penalties.

Wow, I didn’t know that was an option… thanks for the info!

What about communicating with his girlfriend? Is that necessary?

You don’t have to talk to her about anything if you don’t want to. Just make sure to keep the communication about your kid clear.

Definitely consider using a parenting app for communication. It’s easier to keep records and avoid drama with the girlfriend.

That’s a good idea! I’ll look into it.

It seems complicated, but what about your kid’s feelings on all this? Don’t want to mess up their relationship with their dad.

Yeah, that’s super important. I had to find a balance when my partner’s ex was tough to deal with. It’s all about the kid’s well-being.
