Anyone else deal with adoption without the dad knowing...?

About 6 years ago, I was casually hooking up with this guy. Our relationship was strictly physical since we both had demanding careers. After about 18 months, we decided to part ways. A month later, I found out I was pregnant. We talked about it, but I ended up deciding on an abortion. He was okay with it, but I wanted space and didn’t want to build a bond. He blocked me after that. On the day of the procedure, I chose to keep the baby and put her up for adoption. I tried to reach him for 5 years but couldn’t get through. Now, we ran into each other, and I want to tell him what happened. Can he legally challenge the adoption or cause issues for the family?

IDK if he can take you to court now, but he might feel differently if he finds out about the kid. That’s a lot to unpack.

Yeah, I get that. I just didn’t want to involve him in the emotional part of it.

Did you try reaching out through a lawyer or something? Might be a safer way to communicate.

Not yet! I didn’t think of that. I just want to be careful about how I approach this.

I think since the adoption was closed, it’s harder for him to intervene. But definitely check the laws!
