Hi guys, I just got full custody of my kids in October after a long fight with their drug-addicted father. Honestly, he made it easier than expected, and it’s been nice not hearing from him until recently. He’s refused a 5-panel drug test for 8 months, even after the judge told him to take one and file the results before the next court date. Guess who didn’t show up? Yup, him! He didn’t want to take that test. So, here’s the deal: the judge told us both in court that he needed to contact my lawyer for a list of facilities to do the test, but he decided to go wherever he pleased. Now he’s trying to act like he had no idea and claims that I am in contempt of the parenting plan because he took a test through a sketchy mobile clinic that I don’t trust and neither does my lawyer. What should I expect from this? My lawyer says she will go after him for fees if he tries to file contempt. I also can’t understand everything in the order, especially what’s written on the sides. Any advice would be super helpful.
Wow, that sounds really complicated. If the judge ordered him to take a specific test and he didn’t, that might work in your favor.

I hope so! It’s just frustrating that he’s trying to spin this around on me.
You might want to keep all the documentation handy. If he files contempt, having everything laid out could help your case.
That’s rough. It sounds like he’s just trying to avoid the consequences of his actions. Stay strong!

Thanks! It’s just been a lot to deal with, you know?
If he’s trying to say you’re in contempt, you should definitely talk to your lawyer about what steps to take next.

I will! I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right.
Sorry you’re going through this! It sounds really stressful. Just remember, you have rights too.
