Can mother cancel child support?

I urgently need to know if a mother can cancel child support. Is this possible, and if so, what steps need to be taken?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In most cases, a mother cannot completely cancel court-ordered child support. Child support is meant to financially support the child, and the court prioritizes their well-being.

And with my oldest, I did that. The father continued getting arrested because he was unable to work a full-time job. I agreed with him to remove the support order and retain our child while I worked full-time to save money on creche. It allowed me to give her everything she needed, including health insurance, without having to use up half of my income on nursery. In addition, I didn’t have to witness my ex’s family constantly scrounging money to support him. Everyone benefited from it. especially for my kid, who got to see her father more frequently.

I was in the same situation. My mom went to court and told the Attorney General (AG) and the judge about it. Since the kids were on Medicaid, they asked if we wanted them to stay on it instead of using personal insurance, and we said yes. The judge then said the state had to be reimbursed and ordered me to pay $50 a month. We agreed and left.

Usually, unless there is a significant change in income and/or custody time, depending on the situation, the parent receiving assistance cannot have it terminated with the state. When parents don’t want support, states frequently don’t give a damn. They usually have a very limited worldview, believing that the only thing that is “in the best interest of the child” is money. Even when the other parent didn’t want or need child support, I’ve seen parents incur debt in order to pay it.

You don’t. You step up and support her during this. Not only is that baby her responsibility, it’s yours as well, and attempting to escape that circumstance is among the most cowardly and dreadful things a person can do.

I’m grateful for this good information I :hugs: :joy:  got from you good luck

If you have a valid reason to stop child support payments, visit your nearest family court or the court that issued your current child support order. Request the necessary paperwork to officially halt the payments.
