Can the other parent request family visitations for our child?

I’m dealing with a situation regarding visitation rights. I filed for sole physical and legal custody because of documented domestic violence and because the other parent has left the state. Since then, he’s backed out of two scheduled visits, but now he’s asking if I would fly our child to him. I declined because I have a protection order against him. When I suggested having a neutral party present for visitations, he said he didn’t want visits unless I was there and that I should just send the baby to him and leave her with him and his mother. Given the pending case and the fact that his mom has threatened my life, I told him I’m not comfortable with that. He finally filed an answer and specifically stated he wants his mother and other family members to have visitations since he lives with her. So, I’m wondering, can he even request that his family have visitations?

That seems pretty complicated. I think he can ask for it, but whether he gets it is another story. Did you file for sole custody?

From what I understand, it’s not common for a parent to request visitation for third parties. The court usually focuses on the parent’s rights, but he might argue that his family should have access during his visitation.

He can request anything, but it’s up to the judge to grant it. Given his history, I’d push for monitored visits with someone professional, if possible.

I think it’s a good idea to document everything. If you feel unsafe, definitely get more legal advice once your attorney is back.
