Looking for a checklist for divorce paperwork... any advice?

I’m getting a divorce in Volusia County, Florida, and I want to make sure I don’t miss any important paperwork. I’ve been looking at the forms, but I’m not sure which ones I actually need since we’ve already agreed on everything (no kids, property’s under my name, she gets a one-time payment). I’ve filled out 14 forms from the online packets, but I think most don’t apply to us. Anyone have a checklist or advice on which forms I definitely need to make this as smooth as possible? I just want to make sure I’m not forgetting anything.

Sounds like you’re in a pretty straightforward situation, which is good. Have you looked at the Simplified Dissolution of Marriage forms? They might be all you need if you both agree on everything.

I agree. We used the simplified process in our divorce and it went really fast. Definitely worth looking into.

@Penny
Yeah, it’s usually the fastest route. Just make sure you check all the boxes on eligibility, like no kids and both agreeing on everything.

I had a similar situation and ended up using the Simplified Dissolution packet. It was pretty simple, just make sure to fill out the Marital Settlement Agreement if you can. It helped a lot.

Wait, what’s a Marital Settlement Agreement? I haven’t heard of that before.

@Nichole
It’s just a document that spells out your agreement in detail—like who gets what, property stuff, etc. It’s optional but helps if you want everything clear for the court.

For property stuff, don’t forget the Financial Affidavit. You might need to submit that one too even if you think it’s all simple.

Good point. I totally missed that form when I filed. It was annoying to go back and add it later.

I’m pretty sure you don’t need a cover page, at least not for a simple case like yours. Just make sure the forms are organized before you file them.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking, but I wasn’t sure. I’ll just make sure everything’s in order before filing.

I would suggest going to the courthouse with everything in a folder. It makes the process smoother when you’re filing.

Yeah, I did that. It helps when they ask for extra copies or anything specific.
