Need advice on grandkids and CPS situation

My 3 grandchildren have been living with me for 7 months after my daughter lost them to CPS. She got them back but then lost them again. Now, she’s trying to send the oldest to her biological father, who has a criminal background, and I’m really worried about them. CPS is involved but not helping much. Any advice on what I can do? I can’t afford an attorney, and this is really stressing me out.

You should definitely reach out to legal aid. They can help with custody issues, especially since you’ve had the kids for so long.

Yeah, legal aid might have resources for you. Plus, you might have rights as a grandparent after caring for them this long.

Have you considered filing for emergency custody? It sounds like the kids are in a tough spot and you could make a case for keeping them safe.

I agree! If the father has issues, that could help your case. Just make sure to document everything.

Contact the ombudsman, too. They can advocate for the kids and might help you navigate through this mess.

Exactly! They might have more power to push CPS to take action. Here’s the link: State of Louisiana Child Ombudsman | LLA

It’s really concerning what you mentioned about the biological father. You definitely need to raise that with CPS again!

Yes! Any concerns about safety should be taken seriously. Keep pushing for them to listen.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. It’s tough, but just keep reaching out for help. You’re doing the right thing for the kids.

Totally agree! You’re being a great support for them. Hang in there!
