My ex is thinking about moving to another state, but I really don’t want that to happen. I just want to know what might go down if she tries to go through with it… I mean, our divorce decree says our daughter is supposed to stay in our county, but the primary gets to choose where to live within that county.
It sounds like you have a solid case since the decree specifies your daughter stays in your county. If she tries to move, it could get complicated. Have you talked to a lawyer about this?

Not yet, but I’m thinking I should. Just worried about what she might do next.
Honestly, if the decree says she has to stay in the county, she might face challenges. Courts usually consider the child’s stability… especially since your daughter is only 9.

That’s what I hope. But I’m still nervous about court. IDK how she might fight this.
I get where you’re coming from. Moving would be tough financially, especially with kids involved. Have you thought about writing down all the reasons why moving isn’t a great idea?

Yeah, I’ve been jotting things down. The cost of living is a big deal, and we have family support here.
The judge will look at what’s best for your daughter. If you’re an involved parent and she’s settled in her school, that should weigh in your favor. Just keep records of everything!

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I just want to make sure she stays where she’s comfortable.
It’s good you’re being proactive. Just remember to stay calm and keep communication open with your ex, if possible. That might help avoid court altogether.

Yeah, I’ll try. Just tough sometimes, you know?
