Why do states still use 'Non-Custodial'... feels outdated?

Aloha everyone! I’ve noticed that with 50/50 physical custody becoming more common, it’s frustrating that states haven’t updated their language. I log into the child support website, and I’m labeled as the ‘Non-Custodial’ parent. Seriously? If anything, I’m the more responsible one! My child’s mother does well, but her constant attacks on my parenting really get to me. I’ve tried telling the CSEA workers to change it, but they usually just brush me off. Anyone else feel this way?

I totally get what you’re saying! It feels really outdated. We’re all just trying to co-parent effectively!

Right? I wish they’d update that language to reflect how things are changing in parenting!

Same here. It’s like they don’t recognize the hard work that goes into shared parenting. It’s frustrating!

Exactly! It’s a slap in the face after all the effort we put in.

Maybe if more people voiced their opinions, they’d start to take notice? It can’t hurt to keep pushing for change.

Good point! Collective voices can really make an impact. We should keep advocating!

I think it’s a matter of time. As more parents share custody, the systems will have to adapt. Just keep pushing!

That’s a hopeful thought! I’ll keep at it, for sure.

I feel your pain! It’s hard enough co-parenting without being labeled incorrectly.
